Inclusion Strategy

At St John Henry Newman Catholic Primary School, we believe that every child should feel welcomed, valued and supported to flourish. Inspired by our Catholic ethos, we are committed to creating a learning environment where every pupil has the opportunity to achieve their full potential, regardless of need, background or starting point.

Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that children learn in different ways and that some pupils may require additional support at different points in their educational journey. Our approach focuses on identifying needs early, removing barriers to learning and ensuring that every child can participate fully in school life.

Our inclusive practice is built around the following key principles:

• High-quality teaching for all through adaptive teaching, a broad and ambitious curriculum, and classrooms that enable every child to succeed.
• Early identification and support, ensuring that pupils receive timely, evidence-informed interventions before difficulties become barriers to learning.
• A culture of belonging, where every child feels safe, respected and valued as an important member of our school family.
• Strong partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies, recognising that working together leads to the best outcomes for children.
• Accessible learning environments that continue to evolve to meet the needs of our pupils and remove barriers to participation.

Our Inclusion Strategy reflects the needs of our pupils and the community we serve. We regularly evaluate the effectiveness of our provision, using evidence and pupil outcomes to shape future developments and ensure our practice continues to improve.

By developing inclusive classrooms and a culture where every child can thrive, we aim to ensure that all pupils are equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed both academically and personally.

In line with Department for Education guidance, our Inclusion Strategy is reviewed annually and is overseen by senior leaders and governors as part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and excellence for all.
